May 28, 2004 BASICS Scotland has new Extrication Vehicle

Thanks to the efforts of Brian Carlin BASICS Scotland now has its own “purpose-built” Extrication Unit. This consists of a covered trailer which contains a car which was involved in a road traffic accident and has subsequently been specially modified by professional coach builders for the purposes of teaching extrication. All hazardous fluids have been removed from the car, the roof cut off and put back on with spring clips, so that it can be removed as and when necessary for the purposes of demonstrating extrication. Various other modifications have been made to the car to make it as lifelike as possible. Should members of BASICS Scotland wish to use this unit for teaching purposes, then please contact BASICS Scotland office.
