This is an introduction to Immediate Medical Care and is probably the most popular of our courses. It concentrates mostly on Cardiac and Trauma resuscitation in the Pre-hospital setting. Scene and personal safety are emphasised.
This is a course which re-emphasises the material taught on the Part 1 course and introduces other relevant material for Pre-Hospital Care including, triage, pain relief, kinetic mechanisms of injury, paediatric and neonatal resuscitation and multiple casualty management.
It is recommended that all teaching of this type be refreshed on a regular basis. This course updates candidates on much of the content of the part I and part 2 courses. This course devotes a major proportion of its time to scenario-based teaching.
This is a paediatric resuscitation course run under licence from the Advanced Life Support Group in Manchester and is accompanied by a manual, which is published by British Medical Journal Publications.
This is an examined and certified course from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. The material covered and assessed is based on the RCS Edinburgh, Level 2 material of the core manual in Pre-Hospital Care. This course can be used as a progression towards the Diploma in Immediate Care (DIMC)
These courses are open to all Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics who work, or may have an interest in working in the pre-hospital field.
All the above courses are 21/2 day courses and consist of a series of lectures and small group practical-based teaching. The PHEC Course is facilitated over 3 full days to allow a half day for the course examination. All include at least half a day of scenario teaching. High quality written material has always been produced to accompany the courses and a manual is produced by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care to accompany our teaching material.

This 2-day course is aimed at anyone who would be involved in managing a major incident in the hospital. The course covers aspects such as the structured approach of the hospital response, approach at the scene and its impact on the hospital, public health incidents, large geographical incidents and recovery. The course material is taught through a series of lectures, workshops and table-top exercises.
This 3-day course is concerned with the clinical management of a major incident at the scene and is aimed at candidates from a medical, nursing or paramedic background. The course covers aspects such as preparation, communications/radio procedures, command and control and triage through a series of lectures, skill stations, workshops, table-top exercises and practical exercises without casualties (PEWCS).
