BASICS Scotland delivers courses across NHS Board areas based on direct requests from relevant Health Boards. Course types and dates are usually agreed around 12 months in advance.
All course bookings are taken in one of two ways:
1) Principally course places are booked through NHS Board contacts locally, who then send participants names to BASICS Scotland
2) Course enquiry form from BASICS Scotland website (to be held on BASICS Scotland central database)
There is a high demand for most of our courses, so booking via one of the above methods ensures we track your enquiry date, place you on the correct waiting list and offer you a place on the next available course. Places are offered to those who have been on the waiting list the longest.
If you work in a Health Board area that regularly books courses from us, you may not wait as long as those held on the BASICS Scotland central waiting list. We can direct you to your relevant NHS Board contact if you wish.
Once you are offered a place we ask you to complete a "Course Application Form" This gives details of the course dates, venues and relevant delegate/residential fees payable.
Relevant practitioners providing pre-hospital care in remote and rural Scotland will qualify for course fees being subsidised by NHS Education Scotland (NES). We are incredibly fortunate to have this valuable partnership in Scotland.
For Highland Courses
"Courses in Highland are coordinated by SHERPA, the local GP Immediate Care Scheme. No waiting lists are held - course places are released 3-4 months in advance and priority is given to Highland GPs.
