The VLE is otherwise known as “BESTT” (BASICS Education Scotland Training Technology). BASICS Scotland respects the privacy of the visitors to its website. In order to view our site, it is not necessary that you provide us with any personally identifiable information about yourself, although access and use of certain content on our site and member features do require that you provide personally identifiable information.
We also require users who wish to access member’s area to create a free account that contains personally identifiable information.

Information collected
Access to VLE is secure and requires a username and password. Users are also required to provide other personal details including surname and first name as well as an email address. These profile details are shared through the VLE with other course participants. If you do not wish to disclose your contact email address, you can opt to hide it in your profile settings.
Each individual is responsible for the security and use of their username and password. The use of someone else's account, username (or password) is prohibited. Any user found using someone else's username, or impersonating another user of the system, may be excluded from further participation on the website.
Use of cookies and your privacy
A cookie is a small data file. Cookies cannot read your hard disk or make any information collected by use of a cookie available to any third party. A cookie can only be read by the organisation that installs it.
To be able to log into the password protected areas of the website and remain logged in you will need to allow cookies on your browser. The website neither stores sensitive information in cookies nor does it store these cookies permanently on your computer. The website only uses cookies as a unique user and session identifier. The website cookie is destroyed when the browser session is closed.

VLE Usage Information
The VLE collects information about usage of course materials and this information will be visible to instructors/tutors on the VLE.
This feature is to help improve the VLE service by ensuring that the material and content of the courses is according to the users' requirement.
